Q:What is the advantage and disadvantage between hydraulic technology and pneumatic technology in cable jetting?
A: Fiber blowing machines as run with hydraulic pack is old machines, developed for 20-30 years ago and don’t have new technology and new features. Pneumatic machines is new technology, light weight and no extra items and cost to run the machines.

Water carry the cable easier and faster, it means that you can double the distance with water compare to air blowing, ex. You blow fiber 2000m then you can do 4000m with water.
For very long distance then water is the best.

There are some challenges with water and it is the set up, you need a lot of water and a pump, and also depend on the construction of the route, if there are man-holes every 500m or 1000m then you not go with water.

To run a pneumatic machine you only need to add a compressor.
With a hydraulic machine you need the same compressor, hydraulic pack (minimum weight 55kg) and a second energy source to run the hydraulic pack.

To the hydraulic machines you need a lot of oil and petroleum to run the machine, additional cost and more weight to carry.
Older machines like hydraulic the cost for spare parts is much more expensive and you need a lot to configuration different sizes, with Jetting you know how easy you run the machine, change only clamp for different sizes etc.

Weight;
Comparable products with Jetting V3
Jetting V3: 24kg + compressor
Hydraulic machine (An European brand): 103kg machine + 66kg hydraulic pack + 25kg energy source + compressor

From the above, we can see quite a few advantages of pneumatic machines such as;
Time to set up and take down during a blowing job - time is money.
Number of people before and after a blow - more expensive
Larger vehicles and additional equipment (crane) - more expensive
No extra power source – additional and heavy
Flexibility and speed
Gentle on the body
